White Hot

Crazy Cat Lady Rantings

Twilight taunts me before my eyes. My heart beating to a tribal drum. The fire that lights up the night sky calls to me to join him.

I fear to take his hand for I might burn, but my passion is too deep to ignore. His fire is white hot releasing my soul as our bodies meet. Together we will reshape the universe just for us, even if only for a moment.

Tomorrow dawn brings anew and all will be back to normal. You will retake your place back amongst the stars and I will slip into the shackles of my earthly life once again, waiting for another sunset, and another chance to burn.

Sangria the Great

Dogmana's Woofs and Wags

My name is Sangria and I was homeless till my mommy took me in. Mommy and I share the same handicap. We’re both blind. But that doesn’t stop me! I am 11 months old of the delightful Goddess breed of mutt. Playful and loving with a willful mind of my own, I take no prisoners in play and snuggles. I’m now part of a mixed fur, feather and bipedal family. Stay tuned for my many adventures.

Bird in the hand

Get to know my good friend and follow her adventures.

Dogmana's Woofs and Wags

Let me introduce you to the rest of my animal planet.

His name is Tommy, a story of its own, and he is a Quaker parakeet. Actually, I call him my pitkeet as you couldn’t get me to put any body part close to his cage. I did once and it was no kiss that landed on my arm. However, we do have some interesting conversations.

I digress from my story. My roommate and I had the dogs out to play on a particularly beautiful Florida day. Back and forth they ran. From the fence we heard an interesting bird sound. When my roommate turned around, there was Tommy sitting on the fence. Oh if we had only known who he was then. (smiley) She put her hand down near him, (brave girl) and asked if he wanted to step up. Of course he did, and of course my roommate…

A morning in the life

Dogmana's Woofs and Wags

Who said retirement would be less busy? This is my morning!

I lie in bed between sleeping and waking. It feels so good. Just as I head toward just a few more minutes of sleep I hear a sharp squeal. Time to leave the warmth of my bed and get going. The squeal? It is from my Jack Russell/greyhound mix, at least that is what I think she is. Oh yes, she is totally blind, and how she knows it is morning … Maybe the same way I do?

I roll out of bed and to the tune of intermittent squeaks and barks, (working on curbing this, but she is a hound after all!, I dress and go to my kitchen to make coffee and get my leash. My guide is quietly in bed. She knows Sangria won’t let her go out first so, “whatever! I’ll stay here and be…

Less than three weeks

Dogmana's Woofs and Wags

Welcome to my blog. My name is Reggie. In seventeen days I will return to Guide Dogs for the Blind for a new partner. I will be blogging our journey learning to know each other. I hope you will join me for this interesting and sometimes trying ride.

Today I received an email with my flights to San Francisco on March 22 and back to Tampa on April 5. The paper itinerary will be coming in the mail along with luggage tags. First I heard from the nurse on campus and now I have the ticket information. Now it is truly real.
